Landscape design in Astana and Almaty

Landscape design as a concept appeared in the beginning of the XXth century. The term originated in the Western Europe, primarily in densely peopled and developed countries like Great Britain and Germany, where massive industrialization and suburbs growth soon resulted in the environment pollution. Gardens and parks needed rescue, and backyards needed decoration.

Nowadays landscape design is an art itself, its main goal is to create harmony and fairness in the world around us, whether it’s a historically significant park or 5 decares of land around your summer cottage.
Aesthetic qualities and practical value of your backyard mean a lot nowadays. It’s always fair to look at nicely organized territory around the house that brings joy to the owners and their guests.

Every person has his or her preferences, definite colors’ and plants’ combination that make him or her feel harmony and perfection. Correct selection of plants and their location is one of the main conditions of fairness of a definite garden.

Landscape design is not a “luxury” for huge residence yards, the prices are quite reasonable nowadays. Daily routine of a landscape designer includes planting of trees and shrubs, background material selection and complex approach to the territory transformation.

Landscape designer is able to create a unique project for your garden or backyard using different combinations or choosing various elements.

So how do they make a landscape design?

It all starts with the land preparation where all the works will be done. Then it’s time for a creative project, or work plan development. There are some rules:

  • Emplantation of the same plants or closely related plants must be done side by side
  • No symmetry or one-line emplantation as it disturbs their tilling capacity
  • Region climate must be taken into account. For example, if the climate is semi-arid, trees and plants should be drought-tolerant.

Landscape design consists of a huge number of elements:

  • Buildings that are the center of the composition, whose aim is to visually remove the unnaturalness of square constructions, to smoothen their pressure on the natural environment, to conceal the imperfections of the building;
  • Grass lawns that include different types of grass, lanes that divide them;
  • Vegetation, such as particular bushes, trees, flowers and their combinations;
  • Different large decorative elements, like pool, pond, lake, stream, fontain or sculpture;
  • Small details (illumination elements, candles etc.)

Artfully selected range of colors may impressively improve any project, even if it’s simple and low budget. And on the contrary, poorly selected range of colors is able to ruin the impression of the most expensive and creative landscape design. Range of colors of a landscape design is a combination of many elements that consist of 4 main groups:

  • Elements of natural; include trees, bushes, grass, ponds, lanes, sandy or stone banks “in a state of nature”. Everything that designer uses to make future landscape design look more natural. Those are the elements of soft, sober colors, tinctures and their combinations that can change according to the weather and the season;
  • Elements of a special, decorative, landscape – artificial ponds, groves, gardens, wayside trees, front gardens, alpine gardens etc. landscape designer uses them to demonstrate his/her power and creativity when manipulating colors and tinctures. He/she may may decide to plant out a lane of evergreen trees, or may compose a lane of trees that yellow and drop off their leaves in autumn, and that will be a way to “plan” a gorgeous leaf fall in autumn.
  • Architectural elements: a house itself or the colors of its front, columns, vertical marquees, pavilions, bridges and overpasses. All of these elements can’t and shouldn’t exist separately from the general range of colors of the landscape design. A house or a pavilion shouldn’t look like an odd color spot. They should fit in with the landscape, and the landscape is to be a worthy framing for a country house. For example, dark green plants will highlight the light color of the house and its sizes. Plants blooming colorfully will make a grey, “routine” house more vivid and cozy.
  • Other elements – garden and park lanes, lanes and torches, sculptures, seesaw, flowerbeds etc. Color range of these elements is important as well. There are no insignificant details in the problem of color range. For example, bright colorful spots in the landscape design may conceal its drawbacks; definite color combinations may visually expand the space around the country house and create essential emotional mood.
